Autonomous driving in rural areas

We combine electric mobility with renewable energies to create concepts for autonomous driving

The mobility of the future is safe, clean and efficient – and constitutes an enormous chance for growth and wealth in our country. In order to develop autonomous driving along with representatives of economy and science, so-called “digital test areas” are supposed to be established, funded by the federal government of Germany. In these test areas, new technologies of autonomous driving are supposed to be tested with automotive manufacturers along with companies of the digital economy.

The vision of the network is to make the German state Schleswig-Holstein to a global leading site for developing and testing innovative, environmentally friendly, semi- and fully-autonomous transport systems as well as solutions for transportation infrastructure in rural areas, in public transportation and in tourism. The project is going to be realized based on e-mobility coming from renewable energy. It complements the planned test areas in urban regions and the test area on the German Autobahn A9 in Bavaria.
