The technology network "Modular Ultrafast Laser Technology" of EurA AG has recently been listed as a success story by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Energy (BMWi). Due to its great success, the network is currently in its second year after funding and has been able to acquire additional funding for development projects. More info...
The UKPL network was funded from 2015-2017 by the Central Innovation Programme for SMEs (ZIM) and deals with ultra-short laser pulses with durations ranging from a few femtoseconds (10-15 seconds) to a few picoseconds (10-12 seconds). These allow completely new machining processes, which are not possible with conventional tools. The network succeeded in establishing ultrashort pulse laser technology as a tool in industrial production, especially for small and medium-sized enterprises. This enables, for example, the processing of temperature-sensitive materials without thermal damage to the environment. In addition, any materials such as metals, ceramics, glasses, semiconductors, plastics and even biomaterials can be processed with high precision and without the use of additional tools.
