Development of automated and electric commercial vehicles

The mission statement and vision of the planned network is that the development towards automated and electric commercial vehicles, for small and medium-sized companies less in the area of complete solutions but all the more in the area of the required systems and components, opens up very great opportunities. At present, there are individual products on the market, but these are often developed by OEM's, as they want to push the changeover of production towards e-vehicles in their companies.

We combine electro mobility with renewable energies for concepts of autonomous driving 

The mobility of the future is safe, clean, efficient - and offers enormous growth and prosperity opportunities for

our country. In order to develop autonomous driving together with the economy and science, and to prepare higher degrees of automation and networking, "digital test fields" are to be developed - subsidised by the Federal

Government. Together with automotive manufacturers and companies from the digital economy, the latest technologies for autonomous driving are to be tried out here. Implementation takes place based on electro mobility from renewable energies. This digital test field for autonomous driving that is to be newly developed supplements the digital test fields planned to date in urban regions and on the A9 motorway.

Light-weight parts for electro mobility 

Electro mobility hails a new technical era in the traffic area. This radical change will specifically affect the automotive supplier industry. Various purchased parts will be completely obsolete or changed severely. The e-mobility network for light-weight parts for electro mobility is to give the medium-sized supplier industry a platform that permits early and solid preparation for the pending changes. The network is formed by medium-sized suppliers who have many years of experience in the production of components, assemblies and systems in automotive production.

Technology transfer between aerospace and the automotive industry

In order to make space know-how available for other industries, the Space Management of the German Aerospace Center (Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt e.V.) (DLR) launched the INNOspace® initiative in 2014. The INNOspace® network Space2Motion opens up a communication platform between the aerospace and automotive industries.  The main objectives of the network are the mediation and support of contacts between the space and automotive industries for the commercial exploitation of space technologies as well as the identification and definition of technology needs and problems of both sectors and the promotion of mutual technology transfer (spin-off, spin-in).

 Intelligent digital infrastructure to support the sensor technology of autonomous vehicles

The Multifunctional Road Network is intended to implement technologies and products for a multifunctional road. This highway is not only a road surface, but also a sensor, communication element, energy generator and energy transmitter for autonomous, electric vehicles. The planned development projects of the network partners should not only introduce innovative products into existing components such as marking or signage, but also support autonomous vehicles directly in the road with sensor and communication elements.

SCAS - Systems and components for autonomous ships

After autonomous vessels on land and in the air, the focus of interest has now increasingly shifted to autonomous ships and the digitisation of the maritime economy. The SCAS network - systems and components for autonomous ships - has set itself the goal of implementing systems, components, sensors, communication services and technologies for partially or fully autonomous ships. In the network, the focus will not only be on the complete autonomy of the vehicles, but also aspects of partial autonomy, such as assistance systems for automated creation. Another important field is the increasing digitalization of the entire maritime industry.

System technologies for civilian unmanned flight systems

The UAS-INSYS network equally pursues technical and economic targets. The network initiates and managers innovative developments and the connected market introduction of new integrated and intelligent applications and services. The possible broad fields of use of UAS technology are typically new technologies that require explanations and for which targeted marketing measures and market entrance strategies must be developed. One focus in technology developments will be put on multi-sensor systems and mission management systems.

Development of sensor technology, machine learning and robotics 

In connection with the ever-increasing demand for autonomous driving, technological and data-processing solutions are currently being developed which also influence the development of fully autonomous (inspection) systems in a variety of areas. Sensor technology, machine learning and robotics form the basis of this digital transformation. These systems and components are becoming more and more affordable and are available in an ever-increasing variety. It is therefore time to intensively deal with the developments, the possibilities and the effects of autonomous systems.
